Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Auf رضى الله عنه repeatedly made the dua ‘Oh Allah! Protect me from the greed of my own soul’. A person who is greedy becomes enslaved to his own nafs and not to Allah سبحانه وتعالى. Such a person becomes hard-hearted and it is very difficult to talk sense into a person who begins to follow only his nafs and greed. The reason for this is that greed clouds a person’s judgement.
Reciting durood (salutations upon the Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم abundantly not only has a calming effect on a person but also softens the heart.

as-wr-wb, Yes I understand and agree with the above statement. It is not always readily accepted by those who follow their Nafs that they may be in the wrong and if pointed out it is often stated “you do not understand” and the matter is brushed aside !
In other words, ‘this is how it is and if you cannot see that or understand, it’s your misgiving, jzk ws-wr-wb.
