When Allāh created Ādam a.s, Shayṭān vowed to lead as many of mankind into the fire as he can. Shayṭān promised to use deceit, trickery and false promises to lure people away from Allāh and have them focus solely on the dunyā. Allāh allowed Shayṭān to use all that he has to mislead mankind and on the Day of Judgement shayṭān will renege on the promises made and will confess that the promises of Allāh were indeed true.
Allāh mentions in the Qur’ān how the people of Jannah will speak to the people of Jahannam on whether they found His promise to be true. The people of Jahannam will reply in the affirmative and will realise then that the promises shayṭān made were false.
