Guidance for students attending online lessons
This document sets out guidelines all students must abide by when attending online lessons.
Guidelines
- Find a private space from which to attend the live virtual lesson. This is very important in order to maintain the amanah (trust) of the institution, one’s teachers and fellow students. It is advised that this also be a quiet space, without interruptions.
- Lessons are not to be recorded by students.
- Login to Zoom and join the classroom using your full name.
- Adhere to all etiquettes relating to sessions of sacred knowledge. Students should attend virtual lessons as they would in-person lessons. This applies to dress code, body language, not eating/drinking/using a mobile phone, etc.
- Do not use your device for other purposes during lessons or multitask.
- Ask a question either by clicking ‘raise hand’ or by unmuting your microphone at an appropriate juncture and requesting permission to ask.
- Try your best to attend regularly and punctually. Attendance will be monitored by teachers and Administration. Students unable to attend a lesson should notify Administration in advance.
- During the lesson if there is a need to absent oneself temporarily, please seek permission.
In a virtual classroom containing both male and female students:
- Students will be provided with a number that they should use when signing into the classroom. Please do not use either full name or initials.
- Do not activate your webcam.
- Do not unmute your microphone unless requested by the teacher.
Please contact Administration if you are experiencing any problems with your lessons.
