An excerpt from the lecture, ‘The Pursuit of Perfection
Delivered by Shaykh Riyadh ul Haq on Sunday 16th December 2018 at Al Kawthar Academy, Leicester (UK)

Full talk: The Pursuit of Perfection

One scholar gave his student some parting words of advice wherein he told the student not be Allah or the Prophet ﷺ. The student became shocked upon hearing these words and enquired as to what the teacher meant.

We seek to perfect those around us while neglecting our own selves. In seeking a perfect situation around us we may inadvertently want to control those who are closest to us. We have no control of others and our situation ultimately resides in the hands of Allah. We should not expect to be obeyed either as the Prophets of Allah hold that exclusive right.

Allah did not grant a perfect situation to His messengers, so we should not expect a better situation than them. Find out in this excerpt what it means to be in control of our situation and what we should expect of those around us.
