We abstain from the more common major sins as they cause damage to society and are considered illegal, but what about the damage caused by the subtle sins we ignore? The saying ‘sticks and stones may break bones, but words never hurt’ couldn’t be further from the truth. We consider physical harm to be unjust against someone, but do we reflect on the damage caused when that person is verbally abused?
