The Prophet ﷺ relates a hadith narrated by Imam Bukhari and others, “Help your brother, regardless of whether he is the wrongdoer or victim of injustice.” The Sahabah commented that they understood helping the victim of injustice, but how do they help the perpetrator? The Prophet ﷺ replied by saying that you stay his hand. [Bukhari]
Unfortunately there are cases where people who are oppressed turn to others for assistance, but they refuse to get involved to save their reputation and avoid upsetting anyone. As Muslims it is our duty to speak the truth against any injustice, regardless of who the perpetrator is. We should avoid trying to please everyone as this can lead to traits of hypocrisy.
Find out in this excerpt how avoiding justice can lead a person to share traits with the hypocrites.
