“O People! Indeed we have created you from one man and one woman and we have made you into nations and tribes so that you may identify one another. Indeed the most noble amongst you with Allah is the most God-weary amongst you. Indeed Allah is all knowing, all aware.” (Surah 49 : Verse 13)

The Arabs of Arabia were amongst some of the most tribal and bigoted people when it came to ancestry and lineage. This is agreed upon by many non-Muslim historians who go on to note that one of the miraculous achievements of the Prophet ﷺ is how he abolished centuries old traditions of lineage and replaced this with the bond of Islam.

One of the arguments given for the preservation of the EU is that it has helped to avoid wars in Europe. Despite this, nationalist sentiments still run very strong. The Prophet ﷺ managed to unite the Arabs with the verses of the Qur’an and his own noble example.

Find out in this excerpt how the Prophet ﷺ achieved brotherhood within a nation that was riddled with wars.
