Full talk: Benedictions & Salutations on the Prophet ﷺ

“Indeed Allah showers his benedictions on the Prophet ﷺ and so do the angels. O believers! You invoke the benedictions of Allah on him and salute him a great salutation” [Surah 33:Verse 56]

Sending salutations and greetings to the Prophet ﷺ is something which is commonly done by many throughout the world. The sahabah would often send their benedictions to the Prophet ﷺ during his life and after he passed away. This is a tradition that many scholars continue and advise others to do so, but what makes this unique is that Allah and His angels also send their benedictions to the Prophet ﷺ. The believers are merely asked to join in and also encouraged so that they may be showered with reward and Allah’s mercy.

The question proposed by some is whether the Prophet ﷺ was included in this verse when Allah addresses the believers. A beautiful narration of A’ishah r.a explains what the Prophet ﷺ would do regularly as part of his nightly routine.

Find out in this excerpt the unique nature of salat and salam and whether the Prophet ﷺ included himself in this verse.
