The Prophet ﷺ was once with the sahabah when they began discussing the dunya (the temporal world) in relation to the akhirah (the hereafter). They were split in their views and the Prophet ﷺ then explained that the equivalence of the dunya is if someone were to dip their finger into the ocean and see how much is reduced from the ocean once they remove their finger.
This example shows us that our main goal and purpose in life should be focused on our return to Allah in the hereafter.
