An excerpt from the lecture, ‘The Prophet’s ﷺ Triumph over Hearts
Delivered by Shaykh Riyadh ul Haq on Friday 16th March 2018 at Al Kawthar Academy, Leicester (UK)

Full talk: The Prophet’s ﷺ Triumph over Hearts

When the Quraysh heard of the Prophet ﷺ beginning his emigration to Madinah, they placed a bounty on his head of 100 red camels. One individual, Suraqah ibn Malik, had received news of the whereabouts of the Prophet ﷺ and slipped away with his weapons in the hope of claiming this bounty for himself. Suraqah had only just caught up to the Prophet ﷺ when his horse suddenly became stuck in the ground. He was determined to catch the Prophet ﷺ and each time he mounted his horse the same strange occurrence would happen.

This lead Suraqah to realise that he was following a great individual and he gave up his pursuit. What followed was an interesting prophecy declared by the Prophet ﷺ regarding Suraqah, which wouldn’t come true until the khilafah of Umar. Suraqah later embraced Islam and that which the Prophet ﷺ mentioned came true over 10 years after the prophecy.

Find out in this excerpt how the Prophet ﷺ turned the heart of Suraqah ibn Malik, despite his initial attempts to capture and hand him over Quraysh.
